I attempted this challenge several years ago and almost made the goal of reading 50 books in 5 years. Life happened. I’m starting again.
The Classics Club began in 2012. The club’s emphasis is to encourage people to read the classics. If you are interested, this is the link for more information about the club: Club FAQS.
I began reading for this challenge on May 2, 2020. I plan to finish reading the 50 classics by May 2, 2025. This is a living list, not a strict list of books.

I have read that book by Eleanor Roosevelt — it’s lovely. Henry V is my favorite Shakespeare, followed closely by Richard III and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The House of Mirth, Villette, The Velvetten Rabbit — some of my favorites! I love that you’re rereading Anne of Green Gables. I just read that one aloud with my mom and now it’s one of her favorites. It was my third read. We laughed and cried. ❤
I'm curious about Two Years Before The Mast. I love an ocean read and have contemplated that one, especially since John-Boy reads from it in one of the episodes of The Waltons, which I adore, ha ha. And I have Shirley on my own club list! 🙂
Great choices! I hope you enjoy.

I like your “living list” of books. When I turned 60 I attempted to create a “Top 60 books at age 60”. It too is a living list: https://moreenigma.com/2018/03/14/top6060/

Hi Annette, I am in the Classics Club as well! Just joined this month! I LOVED the Anne of Green Gable series, You Learn By Living, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, The Count of Monte Cristo! I have only watched the movie versions of True Grit and Little Dorritt (and love both). I have a few books in common with you on my list: Northanger Abbey, Villette, and Shirley. I will link my list if interested. Happy reading and good luck!
