The Sunday Salon

What else is going on in your life?

I’m baking chocolate chip cookies this afternoon. I’ve not baked cookies since last Christmas. I love the smell of just baked cookies!

My next-door neighbor (and best friend) and I were able to visit yesterday afternoon. She has stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. This is year two of chemo. The chemo keeps the cancer back but makes her very sick. We text most days. We visit in person 2 to 3 times a month. She is 58. The same age as me. She and I both had breast cancer previously in the fall of 2005 (and we didn’t know each other at that time.) Her cancer returned. She is married. She has 4 children and 7 grandchildren.
Kerri is so dear to me.

Read any good books? Tell us about them.

I am currently reading:

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart.

Giving Your Words by Clay and Sally Clarkson.

Sherlock Holmes, The Novels by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie.

A Circle of Quiet by Madeleine L’Engle.

I just finished reading:

The Cottage on Winter Moss by Allie Cresswell.

The Sunday Salon is hosted by Readerbuzz.

  1. I’m sorry to hear about your friend but glad you are there for her when she needs you.

I am not juggling as many books this week – just a book by Donald Westlake and another one by indie author Mary Felkins. I have such a huge TBR pile! Physically and on my kindle!

  2. I am sorry to hear about the return of cancer for your friend, Kerri. I’m glad that you and she got a chance to visit.

Love those chocolate chip cookies! I hope to make some today.

I remember reading and loving The Mysterious Benedict Society. I will be interested in hearing your thoughts.
